Lake Moultrie siteid=1070 · SC
Water temperature measured by satellite, updated up to 4× a day
loading water temperatures…
Water temperature in the top ~3 feet, blended from up to four satellite readings a day (15-day smoothed). Toggle hourly detail to see the weather-driven warming and cooling within each day — what you'd feel from a boat, hour by hour. Gray bands mark periods when the lake was iced over — no water temperature exists then. Accuracy ≈ ±3 °F. A reading only counts when the sky over the lake is clear, and NASA publishes each satellite pass 1–2 days after it happens — so the newest reading is typically 1–2 days old, older in cloudy stretches.

Each point is one cloud-free-over-the-lake MODIS look mapped onto the ECOSTRESS radiometric scale by this lake's trained calibration (night ±≈2.6 °C, day ±≈3.6 °C LOO-CV). Gray ✕ points are ice/snow skin readings during ice cover — excluded from all water-temperature products. Day and night differ physically (diurnal skin cycle) — compare each band against nearby ECOSTRESS marks, not against the other band.
